Sparco took the Targa Florio well-known races as the inspiration for this successful collection. The first race was run on May 6, 1906, where 10 cars started. One car started every 10 minutes on the course that was 146 kilometers long. This course was run on the mountainous roads in the Madonie Mountains near Palermo. The course was drawn by Sicilian entrepreneur Vincenzo Florio. He was also the creator of the first speed races. In 1977, these races were transformed into a rally, the Targa Florio Rally.
